This artwork served as a card that I gave to my girlfriend Whitney for her graduation from Muhlenberg College in May 2009. The illustration began as a hand-drawn sketch that was then scanned and vectored in Adobe Illustrator. Shadows and highlights were added in Adobe Photoshop CS3 using a Wacom tablet.
Created in a relatively short time frame, the trees were repurposed from the Thanksgiving 2008 illustration and colorized to fit the green spring leaves. A lone, airborne cap was animated with a twirling tassel in Adobe AfterEffects and duplicated using the Trapcode Particular plug-in; the end result was a varied assortment of positions, sizes, and rotations that were based on a single animated image of the cap. Digital Anarchy's Knoll Light Factory plug-in was utilized to create the sunburst and lens flare while a photograph of clouds was distorted to match the curvature of the sky.
