Slatington 150th Anniversary
While this entry was ultimately not chosen by the Publicity Committee to represent Slatington's 150th Anniversary celebration, Kernie Cam Productions is nevertheless extremely proud to showcase its submission for the logo design contest. The contest was held in April 2013 in preparation for the 2014 festivities commemorating the 150th Anniversary of Slatington, Pennsylvania.
Artist Statement for Contest Submission:
Using Slatington's iconic Firemen's Statue monument as the focal point of the design, my goal was to create a colorful, eye-catching logo that was also both traditional and timeless. The illustration of the statue and a stylized scene of the Lehigh Gap are contained within a golden oval frame, reminiscent of the Victorian styles of the late 1800's. A ceremonial ribbon announcing the 150th Anniversary celebration completes the logo and helps to evoke the style of a commemorative seal. In short, the aim for the design was to blend classic formal elements with a contemporary graphic style and bold color palette in an effort to appropriately honor Slatington's rich past, present, and future.
